I started reading the book of Isaiah in the last few weeks. In chapter two, the phrase "...for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty" is repeated three times.
Since this is emphasized three times it must be important. I have read through chapter 41 of Isaiah and am finding it is full of reasons why we should fear the Lord and it is full of the majesty of God.Isaiah 2:10 Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty.Isaiah 2:19 And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.Isaiah 2:21 To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
In many churches today, there seems to be a lack of the fear of God as churches become more and more man-centered and less and less God-centered. As they pander to the "felt needs" of men, they loose sight of the fear of God and the splendor of his majesty.
Isaiah 5:13 says,
People are starving spiritually. They are missing the truth of God's Word and are not being taught the holiness and majesty of God so that they learn to fear Him for Who He really is. As a result, we have churches where pastors are committing adultery with women of the congregation, and there is immorality among those who call themselves Christians. "Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst."
I hope to share with you in the next few devotionals some of the majesty and holiness of our God as I have found it in Isaiah. My hope is that when we are done exploring some key passages in Isaiah that we will have a healthy fear of God because we will see Him as He really is.

Amen. People are starving. We know where the food is at. Let's pray that they will be able to smell the aroma, taste the goodness, and let it nurture there souls forever more.
