Marsha's Musings: Freedom of Religion or Freedom from Religion?

I find it interesting that our nation was built on the foundation of the Bible and religious freedom.  Those people who came here, came because they wanted freedom to worship God in the way they thought was appropriate according to Scripture.  They came out of an environment where the government ran the church and told them how to worship.

When the Bill of Rights was drafted, the First Amendment referred to government keeping its nose out of religion not keeping God out of the government.

The Bill  of Rights

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Now the pendulum has swung the other way and God and prayer is being thrown out of government and out of the public sector while government is seeking to weasel its way into regulating religion as we have seen in San Diego County (see my post before this).

Our country's founders would be turning over in their graves if they were to see what has become of this great nation.  Our nation became great because it was founded on Christian, Biblical principles.  It wasn't even a hundred years old before we started throwing out our Christian values and started acting like savages, running the Indians off their lands.  Now look how far we have come.  God and prayer is thrown out of the public schools.  The Ten Commandments are removed from court houses.  Small Bible Studies are being forbidden in San Diego County and no doubt there will be more.  Prayer is forbidden in graduation ceremonies. ( my own nephew got in trouble for praying in public at his high school graduation) Unborn babies are being killed for the sake of convenience.  God is being stripped out of the origin of the world and man.  The list goes on and on of the wickedness in high places in our nation and as well as the wickedness among the general public.  God does not figure into things any more here.

Psalm 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

Psalm 50:22 Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.

We are on a fast track to God's judgment on our nation.

We can only save this great nation when we heed what Scripture says below.  We must return to the Lord and make him God of our nation once again.

Psalm 33:12 ¶ Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
