My Daisy seems to be doing pretty well. She is down to one Prednisone as of this writing (Sunday) and is off her muscle relaxants. We are restricting her to the main floor so she doesn't do stairs. The vet said stairs are hard on Pugs. She is somewhere around 9 years old (not sure...she is a rescue pug), so at her age, maybe stairs should not be in the picture anymore. She doesn't like not being able to follow me everywhere, but I'd rather have her a little unhappy about restrictions than cause her to be in major pain again.
I've had so much experience with physical therapy, that I am using some of what I have learned with my Pug. For instance, now that she seems to be feeling better, I know that the danger is to overdo. So each day I am taking her out the back door on the leash and out the back gate (so she doesn't have to do stairs to get out front) and I walk her a little pace up the street and back. I will increase her distance by 4 o 5 car lengths every few days or more, then turn around and take her back home. This seems to be plenty for her. She is panting by the time I get home with her.
They say dogs are like their owners....I just feel bad that she had to take after me this way!
