Marsha's Musings: Post Surgical Health Tips

I was told I would be swollen and bruised after my oral surgery. This is the second day post-surgical and I am not swollen or bruised. God is merciful.

Here is what I did to help prevent it. I used Arnica Gel on my check as soon as I got home and used it several times that day and the next day. Arnica Gel is a homeopathic remedy for the prevention of bruising, swelling and muscular pain. When my children were small and getting bumps from falling down, we would put Arnica Gel on the spot immediatly and it prevented many bruises.

The second thing I did was to take plenty of Vitamin C with bioflavinoids prior to surgery and after. Bioflavinoids also help prevent bruising.

The third thing that I did was drink plenty of smoothies with lots of pineapple. Pineapple has bromelain in it. Bromelain works to help prevent swelling and inflamation.

If this surgery would have been somewhere else on my body besides inside my mouth, I would have applied vitamin E to the incision area to help cut down on scaring and help it to heal quicker. I did this when I had thyroid surgery and it worked well.

I thank God for providing these things to help me heal. I get my stitches out this afternoon.
