Marsha's Musings: First Escalator Rides

My husband had an out of town meeting this past week in the Tri Cities. We took the kids with us and while he was at his meeting we went to the mall for a couple hours, later spent a couple hours relaxing and reading books at Hastings and getting some treats at Baskin Robbins and Orange Julius.

While we were at the mall we found a couple of escalators. My kids, ages 12 (almost) and 15 had never ridden an escalator before. Now, does that tell you what kind of a place we come from? There are no escalators where we live. It was quite an experience to watch them ride. One was daring and didn't even hold the handrail while the other hung on with both hands for dear life almost as if it was a scary carnival ride! I guess there is a first time for everything!
