This past weekend God has been teaching me something. We watched a DVD of Ken Davis, a Christian Comedian. In between all the laughs, the message I got was that God doesn't make mistakes. Ken Davis was the outcast in high school, got beat up at every turn and was told by a sports coach that he would never amount to anything. Yet, Ken Davis touches lives every day with his humor and the message of the joy of knowing Jesus. God didn't make a mistake.
Then on Sunday night, we watched Extreme Home Makeover. They were building a house for a family whose 19 year old son was born without eyes and his arms and legs don't work right. He can't walk. I was touched by this boy's attitude about life. He said, "God made me so I can't see and I can't walk. Big deal! I have music!" He is an excellent pianist, vocalist, trumpet player and recorded a CD with his music. He says being blind is an advantage because he can't judge people on what they look like before he gets to know them. He is an encouragement and a blessing to everyone he meets. Did God make a mistake? I think Patrick Henry Hughes would say, "No!"
Bring it a little closer to home. What difficulties do you have to deal with? How do you view them? How can you use your difficulties to be an inspiration to others? Do you think God made a mistake? Can how we react or respond to our difficulties lead others to believe we think God made a mistake?
This is all very convicting to me as I deal with health issues that are painful on a daily basis and I try to find the resources I need to get what I need to heal. Has God made a mistake? No! But do my reactions and responses to my situation say that I think God made a mistake? It gives me something to pause and think about. How about you?
