Day 9-10 Pinehurst, NC

By the time you read this, it will be old news, but it's my record of things, so I'm going to post it anyway.  I do not have wifi here at Sarah's place and I've been ripping through the data like crazy.  I made the mistake of typing this on my iPad which does not have cell connection, so I can't transfer it to my phone to post.  I do not want to rewrite it.  So you will be reading it about four days after the fact.  But at least you can see how things went.

Our arrival into Pinehurst was nice since the apartment was furnished and the bed was made.  A welcome sight for sore eyes and tired bodies.  We had all kinds of plans of things we needed to do and wanted to do while I was here and before Sarah had to start work on Monday.  But alas, none of that has panned out so far. As most of you know, Sarah became very ill during the night of our first stay here.  We don't know if it was food poisoning or viral intestinal flu, but she spent most of the first night vomiting and having the runs, and most of Wednesday with the same but slowed down some.  Last night she said she didn't have any of those issues and was able to eat a cracker and keep it down during the night.  She went back to sleep and hasn't woke up again since 7:30am when I got up.  I decided to let her sleep.  She needs it.

Yesterday morning I ventured out by myself so I could pick up some needed things with Sarah being sick and all. I am so glad I did because it started snowing around three when I went out to bring a few things in from the car and it snowed the rest of the day and was still snowing when I went to bed at 9:45pm last night.  This morning it's winter wonder land.  As I write I am looking out over the golf course through the pine trees and everything is white and as the wind blows snow falls from the trees and makes it look like it is snowing again.  The sun is shining and it looks like a horse drawn sleigh should appear at any moment.  It's beautiful.

So, none of our best laid plans worked out so far.  I am disappointed for both of us.  We have so much we wanted to do.  But God had other plans.  I feel bad that He allowed Sarah to be so sick when she has so much to do, looking at the positive side of things, think how much worse this would have been had we come "home" to an empty apartment with no furniture, no bed made up with fresh sheets, no couches or TV with cable hooked up, etc.  Taking care of a sick person in that environment would have been depressing indeed.  And thank God this happened here and not in a motel!  We have so much to be thankful for.

Of course, we wouldn't have ventured out much anyway with the snow storm in the afternoon yesterday and now there is black ice warnings everywhere, so today at least, I think we will rest.  The down time is good.

I'm hopeful that she will be feeling much better by tomorrow....at least enough so that we can go to the Post Office and get her P.O. box rented. I can go do the shopping for her again before I leave if needed, but she has to be present to rent her P.O. box.  At least the post office is just 3 minutes drive from her place.
