Change o’ Plans for Trip to North Carolina

Well, it doesn't look like we will get to stay with my childhood friend in Denver, nor go up in the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, or be in Nashville for the big New Year’s Eve fireworks display, after all.  The weather is just too dangerous to take those routes.  So instead we will be going South and will probably see the site of the Oct 1 Massacre in Las Vegas 😕instead.  We plan to meet up with an internet buddy of Sarah's for lunch there too. Hopefully, we will meet up with an internet friend of mine in Gallup, NM for lunch as well.

Then in Nashville, we will stop at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel to see the lobby decorated for the holidays (hopefully they won't have taken the decor down before we get there).  And then on to Pinehurst on Jan. 2.

This route, so far looks much safe weather wise than the Montana-Wyoming-Colorado route and the Idaho-Wyoming-Colorado route.  I am seeing very cold temps but little in the way of precipitation so far.

I have scheduled and cancelled motel rooms so many times lately, that I'm sure they are beginning to wonder about us. Ha!

If you are on the I-40 route from Las Vegas to Pinehurst, NC (well it almost makes it to Pinehurst), let me know.  Maybe we can meet up for lunch or something if the timing is right.
