When my Heart is Overwhelmed

Ps 61:2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
Ps 62:2 He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

How often do we find our security in our spouses, our children, our pastors, our homes, our medical professionals, our health (when it is good), even our pets and the list could go on and on?  What happens when God begins to remove these props one by one out from under us and we become overwhelmed?  Does our whole world fall apart?

Where do we run too? What do we do when our heart is overwhelmed and we feel we are loosing our security?  The Psalmist says it best.  "...when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I."  You can't get much more secure and stable than that!  God is our rock.  It is He and He alone who can hold us securely when everything else around us seems to be shifting and moving.

How are things in your life?  Stressful?  Overwhelmed?  Run to the Rock.  He is the only One that will be constantly stable and give you the security you need in a changing world.

Dear Father, My heart is overwhelmed.  I look to You to bring stability and security to my life.  You are the only One Who can truly satisfy.  Please help me to find my hope in You alone.  Amen.
